Vacation

We have been trying to decide where to go for our vacation for a few months now. We really feel like we NEED to get away.

At the beginning of July, Eric booked his vacation dates and it was only a few days later that I realized that the tickets we had purchased back in March for the "Young at Heart" show fell right in the middle of Eric's holidays. We tried to figure out what to do...we really wanted to see the show, but we also felt really strongly that we needed to get away. We tried to consider all the options, going on two mini vacations and coming home for the show between the two...going on one bigger (more expensive) vacation and then staying home for the second week of holidays...staying at home and doing day trips...really we tried to consider every option. We eventually decided that it was more important for us to go away than for us to see the show...and we could see the show another time (like in Boston in the fall for example).

So, we've decided to go to Newfoundland for our vacation! We're so excited. Neither of us has been there before and we're sure that it will be an exciting adventure. It will be a crazy road trip...with lots of hours spent in the car...but the sights and sounds will be worth it I'm sure. We hope to meet up with Renee and her hubby (and maybe Sid?) while we're in St. John's!

We'll be leaving VERY early on Wednesday morning and we'll drive 16 hours to get to the ferry. Then we'll sail across to the island (which will take 6ish hours). Hopefully we'll sleep on the ferry because once we arrive in Port-aux-Basques...we're going to hit the ground running! We'll be staying mostly in B&B's and we'll be doing A LOT of driving!

We each have one thing that we are most looking forward to...for Eric, it is the Viking festival near l'anse aux Meadows, and for me, it's Icebergs...I'm hoping to see just one...I talked to a nice man while making a (secret) reservation today and he told me that it wasn't the best of years for seeing...I told him I just wanted to see one and he assured me that I should at least be able to see one (especially at the secret location!). I promise to tell you all about the secret location when we return...for now, it's a surprise for my hubby.

So...we're off...we'll be back in a couple of weeks! We'll be sure to post many photos and to document our journey!
